Nigeria crash out of the FIFA Women’s World Cup following a 0-3 defeat to Germany.
The Super Falcons qualified for this stage as one of the best third-placed teams of the group stage and they lined up against a Germany side who took first from group B.
Alexandra Popp opened the scores in the 20th minutes before Sara Daebritz doubled the lead in the 27th minute through a penalty. Lea Schuller capitalized on a Nigeria defensive mistake in the 82nd minute to put an end to any hope for a comeback from the Super Falcons.
It was not an impressive display from Nigeria, perhaps Germany were a better side talent-wise and that particularly showed in the result the game.
The other African team remaining in the tournament is Cameroon and they face England tomorrow, perhaps they can make Africa proud.
