Paris Saint-Germain triumphed over Lyon to claim the last ever Coupe de la Ligue final thanks to a 6-5 penalty shootout victory.
The match ended 0-0 at normal time as well as still goalless after 120 mins of football that saw Rafael sent off in the 119th minute for a foul on Angel Di Maria.
Bertrand Traore saw his penalty saved by Keylor Navas after Joachim Andersen, Karl Toko Ekambi, Maxence Caqueret, Thiago Mendes, Houssem Aouar have all scored.
Paris Saint-Germain converted all their penalties as Di Maria, Marco Verratti, Leandro Paredes, Ander Herrera, Neymar all scored before Pablo Sarabia buried the winner following Traore’s loss.
PSG have now completed a domestic treble this season after already winning the Ligue 1, Coupe de France and now this one. They will look to add the Champions League to them when they continue their journey by facing Atalanta in the quarterfinals next week.

That was the last ever Coupe de la Ligue as announced earlier in the season after lack of sponsorship and TV rights.

Both sides have met in another final after that, it was the 2019 Europa League final in Baku where Chelsea thrashed Arsenal 4-1. Today’s match will be one every football fan will want to watch out for due to various reasons.
It’s Arsenal’s only hope to play European football next season after finishing eighth on the Premier League table. A win will see them book a place in the Europa League. It is also a chance for them to win a trophy since 2017. Chelsea will also relish their chance to crown their successful season with a trophy after they already qualified for the Champions League following a fourth-place finish.

It’s going to be an exciting one, watered with shades of revenge, though both sides to do have the quality we might look out for, buy it sure going to be a match to watch out for.
