A wonderful morning to you all as we check out the results of the football matches played yesterday Sunday December 15, 2019
Arsenal were well beaten by Manchester City at the Emirates stadium yesterday thanks to a brace from Kevin De Bruyne who also set up the other goal scored by Raheem Sterling.
The match ended 3-0 and clearly showed the state of the Gunners who have hit rock bottom.
It’s same old Arsenal and the team will need a whole overhaul, perhaps to start from the scratch again, giving whichever manager that is coming in enough time to build his team. Enough time varying from one to three years.
The Gunners are now without a win in their last six matches at the Emirates stadium in all competitions, drawing three and losing three, their longest winless home run since 1995 during George Graham’s time.
Manchester City have 35 points and moved back to 14 points within Liverpool and four points off second Leicester City. Arsenal meanwhile have 22 points from 17 matches, seven points off Chelsea who are fourth and seven points off relegation zone. They sit in ninth position.
Manchester United rescued a point against Everton at Old Trafford thanks to an equalising goal from youngster Mason Greenwood which cancelled out Victor Lindelof’s early own goal.
Greenwood showed his skills and only Marcus Rashford has scored more goal than him in the United’s squad so far this season.
Everton 19-year old forward Moise Kean was substituted in the 88 minutes after only gracing the pitch 18 minutes earlier and interim manager Duncan Ferguson defended his actions that he used he substitution just to waste time.
Tottenham secured a hard-fought victory over Wolverhampton at the Molineux stadium thanks to a late tremendous header from defender Jan Vertonghen who had a nightmare throughout the game thanks to Adama Traore who gave the Belgian tough time.
Tottenham were in front through Lucas Moura before Adama Traore who tormented the whole of the Spurs’ team equalised for Wolves in the 67th minute. Vertonghen however had another idea, scoring an header from Christian Eriksen’s cross in additional time to leave Jose Mourinho just three points off top-four. Wolverhampton are 8th with 24 points.
Juventus are level on points with Inter Milan thanks to a 3-1 win over Udinese which saw Cristiano Ronaldo score a brace and Leonardo Bonucci scored the other goal. Udinese star Ignacio Pusseto scored a late consolation goal for his side but it was not enough to salvage any point.
Maurizio Sarri’s side have now moved level on points with Inter Milan who drew 1-1 against Fiorentina. They both have 39 points.
Juventus goalie Gianluigi Buffon matched Alessandro Del Piero’s club record appearances with 478 Serie A games. What a wonderful career.
Real Madrid could only play a 1-1 draw against Valencia, all thanks to a late equaliser from Karim Benzema after goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois’ header was saved. The goal cancelled out Carlos Soler’s goal in the 78th minutes. This leaves Madrid in second place, level on points with Barcelona in 35 points ahead of their Wednesday El Clasico match.
Paris Saint-Germain thrashed Saint-Etienne 4-0 with goals from Leandro Paredes, Mauro Icardi and a brace from Kylian Mbappe extending their lead at the top of the table to seven points as Saint-Etienne saw red- Jean-Eudes Aholou and Neymar missed penalty.
Paris Saint-Germain now have 42 points from 17 matches so far, seven points above second Marseille.
