A wonderful morning to you all as we check out the results of the football matches played yesterday Tuesday October 1, 2019
Bayern Munich thrashed last season’s Champions League finalist Tottenham in an embarrassing manner as former Arsenal star Serge Gnabry scored four second-half goals in a match that ended 7-2 in favour of the German side away from home.
Robert Lewandowski also scored a brace on the night all after Joshua Kimmich opened the floor for Bayern. Tottenham actually scored first through Heung-Min Son but they threw away the lead and could only get one more goal through Harry Kane from the penalty spot in the second-half, this was however after Bayern had scored four times already.
This is the first time in history that Spurs would concede seven goals at home in a major competition. The 7-2 loss is also the biggest margin of defeat any English club will suffer at home in European competitions. Bayern Munich are first in Group B with maximum six points while Tottenham stand last with just one point.
Real Madrid came back from two goals down to draw Club Brugge 2-2 at home thanks to goals from Sergio Ramos and Casemiro. The Santiago Bernabeu side have not been convincing so far this season and this was revealed in the nature of their performance in the match. It remains to be seen how they can learn and move further from here.
Manchester City had to fight hard to defeat Dinamo Zagreb by 2-0 thanks to second-half strikes from Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden at the Etihad Stadium. It wasn’t a convincing win but all that matters is the three points that has been acquired.
