Manchester United are clear and certain that they are going to get a deal completed for a midfield maestro who is a utility player that can play as both a central and attacking midfielder before the end of this week.
Van de Beek who has been on the books of Ajax football Club as an academy graduate since 2008 had his professional debut against Celtic in a Europa league contest. Since then the creative midfielder has shown what he is capable of doing on the ground stages of football.
The 23-year-old who holds about 210 appearances for Jong Ajax and Ajax Football Club has scored about 49 goals in the process and has completed his medical in a deal worth around £40million which will be likely announced before the end of this week.
The Netherlands international is likely to wear the number 34 jersey to pay a tribute to his former team-mate Abdelhak Nouri, who tragically collapsed in an Ajax’s pre-season friendly match back in 2017.
Questions have been raised on what position he could likely play for Manchester United in the 2020/2021 season for the club but it’s up to the United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to choose a position that befits the mercurial midfielder who has a better stat than all of Manchester United’s midfielders (those that played for the club last season) in terms of goals and assists for last campaign.
This will be the first player Manchester United will be signing this summer after players including Dayot Upamecano, Jadon Sancho, Harry Kane, Sergio Reguillon have all been linked to the club in recent times.
