|Bournemouth thrash Chelsea 4-0|
Things fell apart for Chelsea as Bournemouth thrashed the Stamford bridge side by a 4-0 victory. Josh King was a nightmare for Chelsea’s defence after getting involved in three goals, scoring twice and providing one assist. David Brooks and Charlie Daniels also got on the score sheet to make it four goals without reply. The Cherries have now moved to the top half of the table, 10th position with 33 points while Chelsea moved down to 5th same points (47) with Arsenal who now sit 4th.
This is the first time Bournemouth would win a competitive home game against Chelsea since Sept. 1988.
This is the second time ever in the Premier League history that Chelsea would lose by a four-goal margin, their first was 1-5 loss against Liverpool in Sept. 1996.
This is the first time since March 2018 that Chelsea would lose consecutive Premier League matches.
Chelsea now have three fewer points than they did at this stage last season.
Josh King has scored 38 goals and provided 10 assists in the Premier League for Bournemouth, that’s 12 more than any other Bournemouth player in the competition.
Liverpool dropped points thanks to a 1-1 draw against Leicester at Anfield. Harry Maguire’s second half equalizer cancelled out Sadio Mane’s first half strike and the Reds threw away the chance to further extend their lead at the top of the table. Liverpool move five points clear in first with 61 points while Leicester are 11th with 32 points.
This is the second time in the Premier League this season that Liverpool would fail to win at home, the first coming against Manchester City last October.
Leicester are the first team outside the top six that Liverpool would fail to beat this season.
Harry Maguire has scored three Premier League goals this season and all have come away from home.
|Tottenham sneak 2-1 victory against Watford|
Tottenham secured a hard-fought late comeback 2-1 victory over Watford thanks to an equalizing goal from Heung-min Son in the 80th minute and a winner from Fernando Llorente in the 87th minute. It’s all good for Spurs as they look to cement the third position this season. Tottenham now have 54 points in third while Watford are 9th with 33 points.
Tottenham now have 54 points in 24 Premier League matches, the highest they’ve ever had at this stage of the competition.
Watford have lost eight Premier League games against Tottenham, only against Arsenal and Manchester United have they lost more with 9 and 10 respectively.
Tottenham have scored 13 headers this season, their most since 1999/00.
Barcelona moved to the next stage of the Copa del Rey after mercilessly beating Sevilla 6-1 at Camp Nou to take the aggregate score to 6-3. It’s interesting how a team can be beaten in the first leg by 2-0 only to come back in the second leg to score six times.
