A wonderful morning to you all as we check out the results of the football matches played yesterday Saturday November 2, 2019
Chelsea moved to third with 23 points after securing a hard-fought 2-1 victory away at Watford. Tammy Abraham and Christian Pulisic scored for the Blues though they had to survive a late scare after Gerard Deulofeu converted a late penalty.
Frank Lampard became the second manager in the history of Chelsea to win seven away games consecutively in all competitions since February-April 1989 by Bobby Campbell.
Watford are yet to win any of their Premier League matches this season after 11 matches played so far, they’ve drawn five and lost six.
Liverpool had forward Sadio Mane to thank after the Senegalese scored a stoppage time winner through an header to maintain the Anfield side’s lead at the top of the table.
It was a match Liverpool had to fight back in the late hours of the game through Andy Robertson and Sadio Mane in the 87th and 94th minute respectively after Aston Villa had taken the lead in the first-half.
Aston Villa have so far lost 11 points from leading positions in the Premier League this season, more than any other side in the competition.
Manchester City also fought back from a goal down to defeat Southampton 2-1 thanks to an equalising goal from Sergio Aguero and a late winner from Kyle Walker after James Ward-Prowse had given Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side the first-half lead. City maintain the six points that separate them and table leaders Liverpool who now have 31 points after beating Aston Villa.
Manchester United were beaten at Bournemouth thanks to a 1-0 victory with the lone goal from Josh King leaving the Old Trafford side with only 13 points from 11 Premier League matches so far this season, their lowest points at this stage of the league since 1986/87 season.
Arsenal allowed their lead to slip off as Wolverhampton got a deserved 1-1 draw against the Gunners at the Emirates stadium.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gave Arsenal the lead in the first-half but Unai Emery’s side were nothing to write home about in the second-half as Raul Jimenez scored the equalising goal to leave Arsenal with 17 points.
Arsenal failed to mount a shot on target in the second-half and Wolverhampton had a total of 25 shots.
Aubameyang scored his 50th goal for the Gunners in all competitions in what was just his 78th appearances in all competitions. He’s the quickest player to reach that feet for Arsenal since 1993 when Ian Wright scored his 50th goal in his 68th appearances.
10-man Bayern Munich were thrashed 5-1 by Frankfurt moving the Bundesliga champion to four points off the top of the table. Jerome Boateng received his marching order and that made it very easy for Eintracht Frankfurt.
Barcelona were also beaten 3-1 by Levante to remain with 22 points at the top of the table. Real Madrid draw Real Betis to waste the opportunity to move top and now stay level with Barcelona on 22 points.
