Toothless Tottenham were shocked by RB Leipzig to a 1-0 home defeat in Jose Mourinho’s 150 Champions League matches as a manager thanks to a lone goal from the penalty spot by Timo Werner after left-back Ben Davies brought down Konrad Laimer in the box in the 58th minute of the match.
RB Leipzig boss Julian Nagelsmann who is just 32 years and 211 days became the youngest ever manager to take charge of a knockout stage match in the Champions League where he defeated Mourinho who joined the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson, Carlo Ancelotti and Arsene Wenger as the fourth ever manager to manage 150 Champions League games.
Tottenham now have a huge task to face away in Germany and with Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son both set to be out of the season, it becomes very difficult to predict if Spurs will get the chance to move into the quarter-final of the competition.
At the other side in Italy, Atalanta thrashed Valencia 4-1 to put themselves in comfortable position to make the next stage of the competition. Hans Hatebor scored twice while Josip Ilicic and Remo Freuler scored one each for the Serie A side while Denis Cheryshev got a consolation for the Spanish side.
In the Premier League…
Manchester City defeated West Ham by 2-0 thanks to outstanding performance from Kevin De Bruyne who made one assist and scored the second goal. Rodri scored the first of the night as City took their winning run over West Ham to nine matches with 30 goals and only conceding just three times.
Guardiola has also won nine of his nine meetings against the Hammers, giving him 100 percent win ratio over them, his best against any opposition.
City maintain second position with 54 points while West Ham are 18th with 24 points.
