A wonderful morning to you all as we check out the results of the football matches played yesterday. There were exciting results from yesterday, ride with us as we review them.
Liverpool crashed out of the Champions League after surrendering a two-goal lead to get defeated 3-2 by Atletico Madrid after extra-time in the second leg of the round-of-16 at Anfield.
The contest ended 4-2 aggregate in favour of the La Liga side who completed a double over Jurgen Klopp’s side after already winning 1-0 in Spain two weeks ago.
The normal time ended 1-0 in favour of the Reds thanks to Georginio Wijnaldum’s header from an Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain’s cross just before half-time. The match was 1-1 aggregate at full-time but by extra-time, Liverpool extended their lead through Roberto Firmino before they later surrendered to defeat as substitute Marcos Llorente scored twice, the first following a misplaced pass from goalkeeper Adrian which made everything look easy before another substitute Alvaro Morata scored to round-up the game with a 3-2 win and a 4-2 aggregate victory.
At the other side in France, the Champions League match between Paris Saint-Germain and Borussia Dortmund that was played behind closed doors due to coronavirus ended 2-0 in favour of the French side as they moved into the next round of the competition on a 3-2 aggregate victory.
Neymar and Juan Bernat both scored on the night as lacklustre Dortmund failed to turn up for the party with Emre Can red carded very late in the match.
The draw for the next round takes place on March 20.
