A wonderful morning to all our readers out there as we check out the results of the football matches played yesterday Sunday August 23, 2020

Bayern Munich were crowned European champions after beating Paris Saint-Germain 1-0 in the Champions League final yesterday.

Kingsley Coman scored the decisive goal, justifying his selection for the big match with a match-winning header from a Joshua Kimmich’s pass in the second half.

Coman scored for Bayern Munich

Bayern Munich had goalkeeper Manuel Neuer to thank who kept out Neymar, Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria in particular who could be termed to have wasted those chances.

It was a match worth to be called a final with both sides up to the game though the German club were the better side, PSG could also have made a difference had they try to convert at least one of their efforts.

It was a well-deserved victory for Hansi Flick’s side who secured a treble this season, the second time in the history of the club. It was their 11th consecutive Champions League win, confirming that they won every match en route to the final. They scored 43 goals in the process.

Bayern celebrate at full-time

Bayern Munich have now won their sixth Champions League trophy, level with Liverpool and their first since the 2012/13 campaign where they also won a treble. Only Real Madrid and AC Milan have won more Champions League with 13 and 7 respectively.

They also became the third team after Barcelona and Real Madrid to reach 500 goals in the competition. Barcelona have 517 while Madrid have 567.

Kudos to PSG for the fight, but it was their first-ever Champions League final, they will definitely mount a fight again in the future.

Neymar left disappointed

For Bayern Munich, what a wonderful campaign they’ve had, considering they were fourth on the Bundesliga table before Flick took over after Niko Kovac was sacked. What a way to turn things around and turn them to a formidable team.
